This client needed help with the flow of their kitchen. Although their children are grown, they were gathering in the small kitchen when they came home. To get to the kitchen you entered from the garage, through a large laundry room and came around the corner into the kitchen.
As an unlikely option, we showed the clients what would happen if we took down the wall between the kitchen and laundry room, and relocated the laundry room and added walk in pantry. They loved the idea of having a large kitchen since they loved to cook.
Taking down this wall involved adding a steel beam to support the room above, and the existing sun room entry columns had to be completely shifted and rebuilt to make room for the pantry.
Other client requests included display and storage for some pottery and plates they had collected and loved. We took the cabinets to the ceiling, but added transom doors at the top to put the pottery inside. We also included a plate rail on one side of the room so the plate collection would still have a home.
